Assessment Process

We are often asked how our assessment process works. While each assessment is tailored to the individual, the process usually includes: an intake, assessment sessions, consultation, report writing, and a feedback session.

Feedback is generally scheduled around two to three weeks after the final assessment session, giving our psychologists time to consult with relevant parties and prepare a detailed report.

For younger children, a school visit and observation may sometimes be recommended as part of the assessment. If this is needed, your psychologist will explain the reasons and discuss the additional cost with you before proceeding.

Medicare Rebates:

Medicare rebates are available for autism assessments for children and for adults up to 25 years old under Medicare item code 135.

A GP referral is not required for an adult autism assessment; however, if you are under 25 and wish to claim the Medicare rebate, you will need to obtain a GP referral before your assessment begins.

Eligible clients can receive four (4) Medicare rebate amounts under this item code.

If you are not claiming Medicare, no referral is needed.

We have created a breakdown to make the process simple and easy for you to follow.
